White Rock Hastings

The White Rock Theatre is a medium-scale venue (1066 seated) owned by Hastings Borough Council situated on the seafront of Hastings opposite Hastings Pier. The building opened in April 1927 and underwent modifications in 1939 and 1985. There is currently no Historic England listing for the theatre, but it is located in a the Eversfield Place Conservation Area.

Hastings Borough Council used to run the Theatre at a loss and since 2002 different organisations took over the management of the venue, without success.

Since February 2024 the White Rock has been operated by The Guildhall Trust, who approached Benedetti Architects Limited (BAL) for a strategic masterplan of design options to improve the Front of House (FOH) experience with a focus on:

• Increasing revenue daytime and evening.

• Consider current use of space by facilities such as bars, box office, cafe, offices.

• Consider toilets and access requirements.

• Exclude main auditorium and backstage - For review later.
